California Health MRC Earns Tier One Recognition

California Health Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) proudly announces its selection as a Tier One recipient of the esteemed Medical Reserve Corps Operational Readiness Award (ORA) from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). This recognition, accompanied by a grant of $5,000, underscores CHMRC's commitment to enhancing local emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

Administered through a collaborative effort with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response’s Medical Reserve Corps Program Office, the ORA aims to bolster the operational readiness of MRC units across the United States. With a total fund of $1.26 million distributed among 153 units, this initiative highlights the critical importance of local preparedness in addressing emergency situations.

California Health MRC, renowned for its dedication to disaster preparedness and community resilience initiatives, has outlined an ambitious plan to optimize its response capabilities. Leveraging the Tier One award, the organization intends to fortify its Mobile Capability strategy, enabling swift deployment to support first responder organizations and fellow MRC units during crises.

“With a rapid deployment system that can be activated within 24 hours anywhere in California, we're poised to enhance emergency response efficiency and effectiveness like never before,” said Steven Brown, Volunteer Manager at California Health MRC.

The initiative is equipped with scalable processes and resources, including specialized response teams, shelter facilities, mobile communications infrastructure, Wi-Fi, solar power, generators, supported by local warehouses for resupply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and essential supplies. This strategic investment will undoubtedly bolster the organization’s ability to safeguard the health and well-being of communities during times of crisis.

Further, Tier One award will catalyze the enhancement of existing caches, transitioning them from basic to advanced status. This upgrade will significantly augment CHMRC's ability to respond promptly and effectively to a wide range of emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of communities across the state.

As a vital component of California's emergency response framework, California Health MRC remains steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding public health and ensuring resilience in the face of adversity. The organization expresses profound gratitude to NACCHO and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response for their unwavering support in advancing local preparedness efforts.
