From mindsets to systems, the conversation offered powerful insight into how we can reimagine aging not as a challenge, but as an opportunity to create stronger, more inclusive communities. What if aging wasn’t something to manage, but something to harness? That was the challenge posed in our latest CHMRC webinar, where a panel [...]
We’ve made progress. A decade ago, asking patients about food access, housing stability, or transportation wasn’t common practice in healthcare. Today, discussing and screening for social determinants of health is more commonplace both in healthcare and in social care settings.
In public health, data is power - but only if it’s accurate, timely, and actionable. Across the country, health systems are required to report communicable disease data to local and state authorities. These rules serve a vital purpose: enabling early detection, stopping outbreaks, and protecting communities. But the reality? Founded by Stephanie Woodward, who serves as Executive Director, with Co-founder, Cathy Higgins, who leads the nonprofit’s programming, Love Unlimited delivers food, dignity, and connection to some of the most overlooked members of their community.
“The service we offer replicates what a son or daughter would do to help their parent live life - on their terms.” When K.C. Kanaan speaks about transportation, he doesn’t talk in terms of miles or minutes. He talks about dignity, safety, and family. Together, we stood at the front lines during COVID-19, delivering vital services and emergency response efforts where they were needed most.
Public health data isn’t just about compliance; it’s about connection. For health systems, meeting state-mandated reporting requirements is non-negotiable. But doing it well requires time, precision, and infrastructure that often pulls focus from what matters most: patient care.

It’s about dignity. It’s about community.
